NYC Engagement Photographer | Mythilee + Karthik | Formal Engagement Photos
Mythilee and Karthik met and became engaged while living in New York City, and, of course, the location holds a special place for both of them. When planning their engagement session, they wanted images that feature them, but also images that feature the city as well. So, we planned for several locations throughout Manhattan.
Central Park Engagement Photos
Who wouldn’t want formal engagement photos in Central Park? It is such a beautiful location every season of the year. With so many stunning places within a short walk, it is perfect.
We started at Bethesda Terrace. I knew that Mythilee’s beautiful red sari would look amazing next to the neutral and gold tones within the terrace.
Next stop was the Bethesda Fountain. It is incredibly popular, but we managed to get quite a few images that featured Mythilee and Karthik isolated with the beautiful scenery.
A short walk away is the Mall and the Naumburg Bandshell.
The Edge | Hudson Yards
The Edge is a relatively new observation deck in New York City, and it a perfect engagement photo session location. With incredible views of the Manhattan skyline, we took full advantage. We timed our visit so that we would be there both before and after sunset, and as a NYC photographer, you really couldn’t not ask for anything better!
I love the way we were able to capture images that were both intimate and had sweeping vistas of the city.
Our engagement session was in November, and the weather was cold. We kept going inside to warm up, but even inside, the opportunities were great.
Hudson Yards
We finished our session in Hudson Yards. The architecture along with the open plaza was perfect for us. The sun had long since set, but that just provided us for even more opportunities.
The Vessel makes a great backdrop, and again, Mythilee’s sari was the perfect color to pop against the neutral tones.
I had a great time with Mythilee and Karthik. I loved our time together, and I am so happy with the diversity of images I was able to create for them - from intimate portraits to big scenes that show off the city they love. They are two of the nicest people you can meet, and I’m so happy to have shared in a very small part of their story!
